What Sets Us Apart

Tankless-Trained Technicians with Parts on the Truck

Tankless water heaters are more complex than tank models — they require technicians who understand computerized controls, error codes, gas valve modulation, and heat exchanger diagnostics. Our techs are factory-trained on Rinnai, Navien, and Noritz systems, and our trucks carry the most common tankless parts: ignition assemblies, flow sensors, flame rods, circuit boards, and descaling kits.

100+
Years Combined Experience

Our technicians bring decades of hands-on tankless and water heater knowledge to every call.

Tankless Units Serviced

We know every error code on every major brand — and we carry the parts to fix it.

Tankless Problems

Common Tankless Water Heater Issues We Diagnose

Tankless units are reliable but complex. When something goes wrong, you need a technician who can read error codes and diagnose the root cause — not just reset the unit.

Error codes on the display panel
Ignition failure (no flame)
Mineral buildup & scale in heat exchanger
Flow sensor malfunction
Venting & exhaust blockages
Fluctuating water temperature
Cold water sandwich effect
Flame rod & igniter failure
Low water pressure / minimum flow issues
Circuit board or control panel failure

Whatever the error code, we diagnose it quickly and explain it clearly — so you know exactly what's happening and what it'll cost before any work begins.

Before You Call

Quick Tankless Troubleshooting Tips

While it's always best to call a professional for tankless units, these checks can sometimes resolve simple issues:

1
Check the error code
Write down the error code on the display. Common codes like "11" (ignition failure) or "12" (flame failure) help us diagnose faster when you call.
2
Power cycle the unit
Turn the unit off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. Some intermittent errors clear with a simple reset — but if the code returns, call a technician.
3
Check the gas supply
Make sure the gas valve is open (handle parallel to the pipe). If you smell gas, leave the house immediately and call your gas company.
4
Check the venting
Look at the exhaust vent outside. If it's blocked by snow, ice, leaves, or a bird's nest, the unit will shut down for safety. Clear the obstruction carefully.
5
Check water flow
Tankless units need minimum water flow to activate. If only a trickle is coming through, check that the cold water shutoff valve is fully open and that your inlet filter isn't clogged.
6
When was the last descale?
Tankless units should be descaled annually in hard water areas. If it's been over a year and you're seeing temperature fluctuations, scale buildup is the likely culprit.

Tried all of these and still getting error codes? Give us a call — that's what we're here for.

FAQ

Tankless Water Heater Repair Questions

How quickly can you get a technician to my home?
In most GTA areas, we offer same-day service. For emergencies like a complete loss of hot water or a gas-related error code, we prioritize your call and typically arrive within 2–4 hours. Call 1-855-539-4328 for the fastest response.
How much does a tankless water heater repair cost?
Most tankless repairs range from $200–$600 depending on the part and complexity. Common fixes like flame rods, flow sensors, and descaling are on the lower end. Circuit boards and gas valves run higher. We always provide an upfront quote before starting work — no surprises.
How often should a tankless water heater be descaled?
In the GTA, where water hardness is moderate to high, we recommend annual descaling. If you have very hard water, every 6 months is better. Regular descaling prevents scale buildup in the heat exchanger, which causes temperature fluctuations, reduced efficiency, and premature failure.
What does the "cold water sandwich" mean?
The cold water sandwich is when you get a burst of hot water, then cold, then hot again — especially when hot water is used in quick succession. It happens because residual hot water in the pipes is followed by cold water before the tankless unit re-fires. A small buffer tank or recirculation system can solve this. We can assess whether your setup would benefit from one.
Is there a warranty on tankless repairs?
Yes. All our repair work comes with a parts and labour warranty. If the same issue recurs within the warranty period, we'll come back and fix it at no additional cost. We also honour manufacturer warranties on parts when applicable.
