AC Problems

Common AC Issues We Diagnose

Our technicians are trained to quickly identify and resolve these issues — often on the first visit with parts already on the truck.

Refrigerant leaks & low charge
Frozen evaporator coils
Compressor failure
Faulty capacitors & contactors
Clogged condensate drain lines
Condenser fan motor failures
Dirty or blocked condenser coils
Thermostat & wiring issues
Short cycling (on/off rapidly)
Unusual noises or vibrations

Whatever the issue, we diagnose it quickly and explain it clearly — so you know exactly what's happening and what it'll cost before any work begins.

Before You Call

Quick AC Troubleshooting Tips

While it's always best to call a professional, these simple checks can sometimes save you a service call:

1
Check your thermostat
Make sure it's set to "Cool" and the target temperature is lower than the room temperature. Replace batteries if it's blank.
2
Check the breaker panel
AC units have their own breaker. If it's tripped, flip it off, wait 30 seconds, then back on. If it trips again, call us.
3
Replace the air filter
A clogged filter restricts airflow and can freeze the evaporator coil. Change it every 1–3 months during cooling season.
4
Clear debris from the outdoor unit
Make sure nothing is blocking the condenser — leaves, grass clippings, or bushes should be at least 2 feet away.
5
Check the condensate drain
If water is pooling around your indoor unit, the drain line may be clogged. Some units shut off automatically when this happens.
6
Make sure all vents are open
Closed or blocked supply vents restrict airflow and make the system work harder. Open all vents and ensure furniture isn't blocking them.

Tried all of these and still no cool air? Give us a call — that's what we're here for.

FAQ

AC Repair Questions

How quickly can you get a technician to my home?
In most GTA areas, we offer same-day service. During summer heat waves, demand is high — but we prioritize emergency calls (AC completely dead, elderly or infant in the home). Call 1-855-539-4328 for the fastest response.
How much does an AC repair cost?
Most AC repairs range from $200–$700 depending on the part and refrigerant needed. Capacitor and contactor replacements are on the lower end. Compressor or coil repairs cost more. We always provide an upfront quote before starting — no surprises.
Should I repair or replace my AC?
General rule: if your AC is under 12 years old and the repair is under $600, repair it. Over 12–15 years with frequent breakdowns, low SEER rating, or R-22 refrigerant — it's usually time to upgrade to a new high-efficiency unit. We'll give you an honest recommendation. Check our AC replacement page for options.
Why is my AC blowing warm air?
The most common causes are low refrigerant (from a leak), a dirty air filter restricting airflow, a failed compressor, or a faulty thermostat. Check your filter and thermostat settings first. If those are fine, you likely need a professional diagnosis — call us and we'll pinpoint the issue.
Is there a warranty on AC repairs?
Yes. All our repair work comes with a parts and labour warranty. If the same issue recurs within the warranty period, we'll come back and fix it at no additional cost. Protection plan members get extended warranty coverage.
