Overview

The Mitsubishi M-Series Standard (MSZ-GL) is the smart-value entry point into Mitsubishi's world-class ductless lineup. Designed primarily for cooling with capable supplemental heating, it delivers excellent efficiency in moderate conditions — making it ideal for Ontario summers and shoulder seasons.

Up to 22 SEER — among the highest efficiency in its class
Inverter-driven — variable speed for precise comfort and lower energy use
Heats and cools — year-round comfort from a single system
Lower upfront cost than cold-climate models — great for budget-conscious homeowners

Key Features

Slash Cooling Costs
Up to 22 SEER puts this unit well above the 14 SEER minimum. You'll see real savings on your hydro bill every summer — often 30–40% compared to an older AC unit.
Whisper-Quiet Operation
Indoor units operate as low as 19 dB(A) — quieter than a library. Perfect for bedrooms, home offices, and nurseries where silence matters.
No Ductwork Required
Wall-mounted indoor units connect to the outdoor compressor by a small refrigerant line. No tearing into walls, no duct losses, and you can add comfort to rooms that ducts can't reach.
Rebate Eligible
Qualifies for provincial heat pump rebates. Combined incentives can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket cost. H&C handles all the paperwork for you.
Smart Controls
Built-in i-see Sensor™ detects room occupancy and redirects airflow for even temperatures. Optional kumo cloud® WiFi adapter enables smartphone control from anywhere.
7-Year Compressor Warranty
Mitsubishi backs the M-Series with a 7-year compressor warranty and 5 years on parts when professionally installed. H&C handles all warranty registration for you.

Important: This is NOT a cold-climate heat pump. It loses significant heating capacity below –8°C. For primary heating in Ontario winters, consider the M-Series H2i or Zuba-Central.

Not Sure Which Size
Is Right for Your Home?

Sizing a heat pump correctly matters — too small and it runs constantly, too large and it short-cycles, wasting energy and leaving you uncomfortable. Our licensed technicians perform a free assessment and recommend the right configuration for your space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the M-Series Standard replace my furnace?
Not in Ontario's climate. The Standard M-Series is designed for moderate conditions and loses significant heating capacity below –8°C. It's excellent for cooling and supplemental heating during spring and fall, but you'll want to keep your furnace for deep winter. If you want to go fully electric, look at the M-Series H2i or Zuba-Central.
What's the difference between this and the H2i?
The H2i uses Mitsubishi's Hyper-Heating INVERTER® technology with an enhanced compressor and flash injection circuit that maintains 100% heating capacity at –15°C. The Standard M-Series uses a conventional inverter compressor — more efficient and affordable, but it loses capacity rapidly in cold weather. Choose Standard for cooling-focused applications; choose H2i for primary heating.
How much can I save on energy bills?
With up to 22 SEER, the M-Series Standard is roughly 57% more efficient than the 14 SEER minimum. Homeowners replacing older AC systems typically see 30–40% savings on summer cooling costs. As a supplemental heater in spring and fall, it's also 3× more efficient than electric baseboard.
Do I need ductwork for this system?
No — that's one of the biggest advantages. The M-Series uses wall-mounted indoor units connected to the outdoor compressor by refrigerant lines. No ductwork means less heat loss, simpler installation, and the ability to add comfort to rooms that ducts can't reach.
How long does installation take?
A single-zone installation is typically completed in half a day. Multi-zone systems take 1–2 days depending on the number of indoor units. H&C handles everything: mounting, refrigerant lines, electrical, condensate drainage, and commissioning.
What government rebates are available?
Heat pump installations may qualify for provincial rebates and utility programs. The exact amount depends on the program and your existing heating system. H&C will advise you on every rebate you qualify for and handle the paperwork.
